Day 1: Helsinki

Arrive in the welcoming Finnish capital, Helsinki. Following your arrival in Helsinki and subsequent transfer to your hotel, you will have the opportunity to settle into your room for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Helsinki - Murmansk

Following a short tour of Helsinki this morning, you will board a chartered plane for the two hour flight to Murmansk. Upon arrival you will board 50 Years of Victory, one of the most powerful ice breakers in the world. Settle into your cabin and unpack. The ship departs from Murmansk and your voyage commences, as you journey north via Kola Bay.

Day 3: Barents Sea

As you travel north across the Barents Sea, you will be introduced to the special features on board this icebreaker, including its safety features. You will have the opportunity to become familiar with the ship and learn all about its unique icebreaking capabilities and how ice fields are expertly negotiated by the captain and his crew. One of the highlights of this day will be a tour of the impressive engine room.

Days 4-6: Voyage to the North Pole

Prepare for the sheer excitement of your three day journey to reach the North Pole. Witness the power of the icebreaker as it battles its way through the vast ice fields, which act as an obstacle course, separating you from the top of the world. The views all around you will be truly astounding. Time, weather and ice conditions permitting you will have the opportunity to take a helicopter ride over the icebreaker, for a bird’s eye view of it ploughing its way through the ice. You may also take a walk on the ice pack, which will be a unique experience.

Day 7: The North Pole

With heart-pounding anticipation, the Victory will be slowly manoeuvred into position at exactly 90◦ north. Welcome to the Geographical North Pole. This is only the start of your adventure and, as you disembark the ship, you will experience the once-in-a-lifetime thrill of standing on top of the world! To celebrate this achievement, you will join hands with the other passengers while everyone literally walks around the world. This is known as the International Round Dance. As if today could get any better, there is a North Pole barbecue and, if you are adventurous enough, a quick plunge into the Arctic Ocean.

Days 8-11: The Islands and Archipelagos of the Russian Arctic

The Victory has been operating in the Russian Arctic for many years and has gained considerable experience exploring the many arctic lands in this region, which is one of the most remote in the world. The crew will take much pleasure in sharing their love for these vast lands with you. If weather and ice conditions permit there will be an opportunity to explore the Franz Josef Land Archipelago.

Days 12-14: Barents Sea

During the three day journey back to Murmansk, you will have ample opportunity to relive your arctic adventure, sharing your favourite memories of this voyage with fellow passengers. Take some time to pamper yourself and enjoy the facilities and amenities that have been provided for your onboard comfort, including volleyball, gym, swimming pool, sauna and massage facilities. Alternatively, simply relax in the ship’s lounge, bar or library and enjoy a drink. You will disembark the ship in Murmansk and will then return to Helsinki, where you will spend your last evening.
