Mekhala
The Mekhala is a twenty metre long restored rice barge that has been converted into an elegant floating hotel gliding along the Chao Phraya River between Bangkok and the old Siamese capital, Ayutthaya. This hundred-year-old former work horse is constructed from huge teak planks and combines traditional Thai design with modern amenities, thereby allowing guests to enjoy the region’s ambiance without having to sacrifice Western comforts.
