Made completely of wood, the Schooner Ellida was built in 1922; it is an Alden-design schooner with a classic windjammer experience. It sails the coast of Maine, stopping at deserted islands and small coastal villages each evening to sightsee and explore. Passengers learn how to sail and navigate and can participate in the sailing of the vessel if they like. The vessel sails with a Chesapeake Bay retriever, the ship's mascot.
