Info

Embark

Embark in Juneau. Transfers between the airport and the ship are included. Please forward flight or hotel details well in advance of the cruise departure date.

Day 1: Juneau

You will be met at the airport in Juneau and transferred to the Safari Endeavour, where your crew will be waiting with champagne and smiles. Then set sail towards a secluded spot in the wilderness where the ship will anchor for the night.

Days 2 - 3: Glacier Bay National Park

During the next two days, the Safari Endeavour takes you almost 60 miles up-bay to the Margeries and Grand Pacific Glaciers, which often carve imposing icebergs into the bay. If conditions allow, you will have a chance to lower the inflatables and cruise through the icebergs which have fallen from the glaciers. Spend your evenings anchored in hidden coves and your mornings kayaking and hiking through the quiet of this majestic wilderness. In the bay here you can see puffins, sea lions, bears, moose, eagles and scenery as spectacular as any on earth.

Day 4: Icy Strait

Today there is no fixed agenda – you can just spend the day scouring the waters for humpbacks, sea lions, porpoise and other wildlife. Let your crew guide you through areas only known to the locals, so that you can see the best of the Alaskan wilderness. Why not join the Captain on the bridge or take a position on deck to search for marine mammals? In the late afternoon, board skiffs and kayaks to discover the shoreline of a remote bay. Later this evening, relax under the stars in the upper deck hot tub or enjoy a nightcap with your fellow passengers in the lounge.

Day 5: Chichagof Island - Banarof Island

Spend the day cruising along the waterfall coast of Chichagof Island and enjoy the grand scenery of Alaska's wilderness as you are guided by your expert crew through areas that you won't find in any guide books. During the evening, the ship may tuck into Red Bluff Bay where you can board the kayaks to look for sea otters and bears. In the evening the Captain will drop anchor near Banarof Island.

Day 6: Frederick Sound

Today will be spent cruising to Frederick Sound, a prime spot for viewing humpback whales and other marine wildlife. Cruise past Five Fingers Lighthouse and look out for the playful antics of sea lions as you view a haul out made from many small rocky islets. Later today, travel through picturesque bays lined with evergreen forests.

Day 7: Ford's Terror and Endicott Arm

This morning the yacht tucks into an area often cited as the most beautiful in Alaska. Here, cliff-walled fjords slice into the mountainous mainland and snow gleams on mountaintops overhead, as bears stroll along the shore and mountain goats cling to precarious perches. Take a skiff ride at Ford’s Terror, named after an early mariner who was astounded to see a waterfall appear at the turn of the tide when none had been visible at high tide. This evening, the ship will anchor and you will enjoy the Captain’s Farewell Dinner in the most lovely of surroundings.

Day 8: Juneau

Your Alaskan adventure comes to an end this morning as the ship arrives back into Juneau and you disembark after breakfast for your transfer to the airport or to your hotel.
