Around Spitsbergen Cruise - In the realm of Polar Bear and Ice

First built in 1976 as an oceanographic research vessel for the Royal Dutch Navy and named "Hr. Ms. Tydeman", the Plancius has now been fully reconstructed as a 110-passenger vessel suitable for Polar expeditions. The vessel offers a restaurant/lecture room and a spacious observation lounge (with bar) with large windows, offering a full panorama view. All cabins are generously proportioned and are outside facing, mostly equipped with two bunk beds and a comfortable private bathroom.

The restaurant comfortably seats the full complement of passengers and programme staff. With large windows on both the starboard and port sides, you will not miss any of the scenery whilst enjoying the company and the food.

Lounge and Library

Plancius - lounge

From here, guests will be treated to some of the most spectacular views of their lives. This area serves as the ship's primary meeting place onboard. It is where you will find our well-stocked and tended bar, making the lounge a comfortable, friendly place to take in nature’s wonders.

Open Deck

Open Deck Space

The open deck serves as a large open space including one walk-around deck for exercise or strolling during your Antarctic adventure giving excellent opportunities to enjoy the scenery and wildlife.
