5 Day Galapagos Cruise (Genovesa and Central Islands)

The newly built Petrel is the latest addition to the Haugan Cruises fleet and will offer guests a unique way to explore the wonderful Galapagos Islands. The Petrel is contemporary in design and boasts private balconies in all cabins along with a range of stylish social areas and a Jacuzzi on the sun deck. She will guide you through the magnificent and exciting lands of the Galapogas Islands with its multitude of species and white beaches.





Embark the ship in Baltra Island.

Day 1: Baltra Island - Santa Cruz - Highlands

Today you will arrive at the Petrel and will be welcomed onboard the vessel where you will have time to look around your new surroundings and meet fellow guests. In the afternoon the ship sails to Santa Cruz where you can enjoy exploration of the highlands located in the northern part of the island. Here you may observe volcanoes and rich wildlife including giant tortoises, Darwin finches and mockingbirds.

Day 2: Santiago - Sullivan Bay

Make a dry landing at Santiago and head to Sullivan Bay an area of great geological interest. The area is covered by Pahoehoe lava flows combined with A'A lava. Hiking, swimming and snorkelling can be enjoyed here. In the afternoon the ship arrives at Bartholomew Island home of the famous Pinnacle Rock. A trail of stairs leads to the summit of the volcano boasting one of the best views of the islands. The beach is perfect for snorkelling.

Day 3: Genovesa Island

Spend the day at Genovesa Island. In the morning you will visit Darwin Bay, a white sand coral beach. The surrounding mangroves are brimming with land birds including Nazca and Red-footed Boobies and Swallow-tailed Gulls. Enjoy this beautiful beach and the swimming and snorkelling opportunities. In the afternoon visit Prince Phillip's Steps, a steep rocky path leading up to a high cliff-face from where you can enjoy wonderful views.

Day 4: Santiago Island

Arrive at Santiago Island and explore Puerto Egas also known as James Bay and home to the curious Galapagos Hawks and Quick-footed Galapagos Lava Lizards. Here the Galapagos Fur Sea Lions bathe in the sun. In the afternoon visit Espumilla Beach, popular for marine iguanas and Sally Lightfoot Crabs. Continue onto Buccaneer Cove once a safe haven for pirates. Sea turtles now take residence and dig their nests for their eggs near the Mangrove trees.

Day 5: Santa Cruz

Today you will arrive into Santa Cruz and before departure you will visit Carrion Point, a sheltered lagoon with beautiful turquoise water where you might see a whitetip reef sharks, sea turtles, and a variety of rays. You will then disembark the ship.


Disembark the ship at Santa Cruz.
