Ocean Nova

Polar Circle Air Cruise (10 days)

The Ocean Nova was built in Denmark in 1992 and has been designed to sail challenging, icy waters effortlessly, boasting an ice-strengthened hull. She is a modern and comfortable ship and can accommodate just 68 passengers in well appointed, outside facing cabins, each with private facilities. The observation lounge is the perfect place from which to marvel at the breathtaking scenery on your expedition cruise. Other amenities include a spacious dining room, presentation room, bar and library. She comes complete with a fleet of Zodiac boats, which will transport you to the shore for wildlife watching and trekking excursions.

Embark

After your arrival you will be transferred from Punta Arenas to your hotel.

Day 1: Punta Arenas

Arrive in your hotel at Punta Arenas and once settled in, you will head to a special briefing that will provide you with important and essential information about your exciting voyage through the mystical Antarctic. In the evening enjoy a welcome dinner and meet your fellow passengers.

Day 2: King George Island

Embark your flight from Punta Arenas to King George Island where the breathtaking Antarctic awaits for your spectacular adventure. Take some time to explore the area surrounding Chile's Frei Station and Russia's Bellingshausen station before boarding a zodiac to embark your expedition vessel.

Days 3 to 8: Cruising the Antarctic Peninsula

Sail amongst sea birds, penguins, seals and whales as you cruise along ice filled fjords and among some breathtaking icebergs. Take a stop at the South Shetland islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, disembarking by Zodiac each day. You will hike to extraordinary sites in small groups and venture on Zodiac excursions to otherwise inaccessible areas. Let expert polar guides fascinate you whilst they share their passion for Antarctic through an engaging program of illustrated presentations. Visits will include sites such as Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, the Lemaire Channel, Prospect Point or other magnificent places. Your voyage is affected hugely by nature by the overall goal is to reach the Polar Circle, this expedition requires flexibility due to ever changing weather conditions.

Day 9: King George Island

You will board your flight and travel back to Punta Arenas. Upon arrival a free transfer will take you back to the city, should you choose to spend a further complimentary night at the Hotel Rey Don Felipe before commencing your onward journey home. (Please note that this must be requested at the time of booking).

Day 10: Punta Arenas

After breakfast, transfer to the Punta Arenas airport for your onward fight.

Disembark

Disembark the ship at King George Island and board your return flight to Punta Arenas. You will then transfer to your hotel for a one night stay before making your onward journey home.
