Mekong Prestige II (Cruise Only)

Mekong Cruise from Saigon to Siem Reap (upstream)

Introducing the new luxurious Mekong Prestige II, the sister ship of the Mekong Prestige. The vessel provides an intimate atmosphere carrying a maximum capacity of only 64 passengers combined with first class service. The large comfortable cabins are all outside facing and equipped with French balconies enhancing the first class views of the magnificent Mekong River. Accommodation also varies with two Junior Suites and two Terrace Suites with larger private balconies and bathtubs. Public areas include a sun deck, home to a fabulous whirlpool with a seated deck area, a spa with two salons, a lounge bar and a fitness room, all of which help create a truly magical cruise experience.

Embark

A transfer from the Sofitel Plaza in Ho Chi Minh City to the ship in My Tho is included. Departure from My Tho is at 4pm.

Day 1: Saigon

You will be met at the Sofitel Plaza and transferred some 70km by road to My Tho where you will board the Mekong Prestige. During your transfer, enjoy a stop at Cholon market and visit a lacquer factory. Once you arrive enjoy a leisurely lunch on board before the ship sets sail in the afternoon. Tonight there will be a Welcome Dinner and traditional music show on board.

Day 2: Cai Be to Sa Dec

Arrive into Cai Be this morning and disembark for a trip by junk to the port's floating market. Step ashore to visit the French gothic cathedral and colourful port area. Over lunch cruise to Sa Dec where the famous French writer, Marguerite Dumas, spent some of her childhood.

Day 3: Cu Lao Gieng or Tan Chau

Arrive into Cu Lao Gieng, a remote town on the main Mekong River, this morning. Transfer to small boats to visit two typical fishing villages. After lunch enjoy a visit around the Cu Lao Gieng church. Evening cruise up the Mekong river to the Cambodia border. From October 2017 the itinerary will amend to Tan Chau in the morning, where you will transfer by small boat to a fishing farm. Go ashore to visit a local workshop and enjoy a walk around the village. A rickshaw will take you on a fascinating tour of the town before returning to the ship for lunch. Depart for Cambodian border.

Day 4: Navigation and Border Crossing - Phnom Penh

Today the ship will navigate the Mekong River to the Cambodia border where you will be crossing into Cambodia. Crossing of the border and completion of the required formalities (normally lasts 4 hours). From October 2017 on day four you will arrive at Phnom Penh in the morning, capital city of Cambodia. Visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Return to the ship for lunch followed by an afternoon excursion to the former High School S21, converted to a detention centre under the Red Khmer's rule between 1975-1979, followed by a visit to Wat Phnom. Dinner on board ship and traditional Khmer Aspara Dancing Show.

Day 5: Phnom Penh

Spend a full day exploring the Cambodia capital Phnom Penh including visiting the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. The National Museum is another highlight, with outstanding displays of Khmer crafts. Return to the boat for lunch. In the afternoon join an excursion to the former High School « S21 », converted to a detention centre under the Red Khmer’s rule between 1975 and 1979, followed by a visit to Wat Phnom after which the city was named. In the evening enjoy a traditional Khmer Apsara Dancing Show on board. From October 2017 day five you will enjoy an early morning sailing from Phnom Penh to Chong Koh or Oknathey on Silk Island. Here you will visit a silk weaving village and workshop. You will also visit a Pagoda and visit a primary school.

Day 6: Koh Chong - Oudong - Kampong Tralach

This morning the Mekong Prestige continues her journey to Oudong. Erected on a hilltop, Oudong houses numerous Stupas dating of the last Khmer Kings. You will then travel buy bus to Kampong Tralach to visit the very charming Vihara of the Wat Kampong Leu Pagoda dating back to the last century to see the beautiful wall paintings. Return to the ship by ox-drawn carriage.

Day 7: Kampong Cham

This morning you will join a walking tour of Wat Hanchey where you can explore hilltop pagodas overlooking the Mekong. You will return to the vessel for lunch and after you will then head to Kampong Cham. Visit the 12th century Angkorian temple of Wat Nokor and an Eco village where you can explore how locals live. Dinner tonight will be served back on the ship and you will dock in Kampong Cham overnight.

Day 8: Tonle Sap to Siem Reap

An early morning crossing takes you across the great lake that dominates Cambodia to Siem Reap. Disembark for your transfer to the airport or to a hotel in Siem Reap. **Important notice: it may not be possible to cross Lake Tonle if the water is low. Alternative arrangements will be made to cross the lake either by speed boat or bus to meet the pier. Passengers will be informed of details before departure. The cruise schedule and program timing are indicative and subject to modification. ** Post-cruise packages including accommodation in Siem Reap and sightseeing at Angkor are available - please call for details.

Disembark

Disembark in Siem Reap after breakfast for a transfer to a hotel in Siem Reap.
