Manatee Amazon Cruise

5 Day Amazon River Cruise

The new Manatee Amazon Cruise river motor yacht launches in July 2017 and has been specially built for cruises in the Ecuadorian rainforest on the Rio Napo. Designed for adventure, yet featuring the modern and sophisticated amenities of a floating hotel, the vessel accommodates up to 30 guests in excellent levels of comfort. All cabins are contemporary in style and feature large picture windows that provide guests with spectacular views of the Amazon. The panoramic terrace is an ideal place for marveling at the impressive biodiversity of the flora and fauna of this region while the convivial bar and lounge area caters for easy socializing. You also have the option to enjoy one or two nights camping under the stars in the Amazonian rainforest on an optional Glamping Excursion.

Info

Embark

Board the flight from Quito to Francisco de Orellana (Coca). Transfer from the airport to the Napo River port, where a motorized canoe will take you downstream for approximately one and a half hours, where you will board the Manatee Amazon Cruise.

Day 1: Coca – Yasuní National Park

Upon arrival at Coca airport, you will be transferred to the Napo River port. Then the motorized canoe ride downstream will be approximately one and a half hours; during the trip you will be provided with important information about the region. Once on board, the Manatee Amazon Cruise will start navigating down the Napo River, where you can enjoy a stop at the Life Under Water Museum. Return to the ship after a night walk, for dinner.

Day 2: Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve and Yasuni National Park

Early in the morning you will explore one of the most pristine rivers in the Ecuadorian Amazon, the Cocaya River, where you can observe many exotic plants and wildlife in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve including the pink dolphins, river turtles, three-toed sloth and black caymans. In the afternoon, in the heart of the Yasuni, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the major black water lakes of the upper Amazon basin, the JatunCocha.

Day 3: Kichwa Culture and Swamp Forest hike

In the morning you will visit one of the local indigenous community centres, specifically, one of the Kichwa Culture schools, where you can meet the local people and learn about their culture. Spend the afternoon relaxing onboard the ship or perhaps join a Ecuadorian cooking class, learn to make fibre handicrafts or join one of the lectures given by the onboard naturalist concerning culture, biodiversity, Amazon formation, oil and sustainability.

Day 4: Limoncocha Biological Reserve

After breakfast you will join an excursion, climbing to the top of a fabulous observation tower that looms over the forest canopy. Return to the ship for lunch, followed by a canoe excursion to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve rich in wildlife including many bird species and monkeys.
