Day 1: Dakar

Board Le Dumont d'Urville in Dakar, the vibrant capital of Senegal. You will have time to explore your cabin and new surroundings. Later you will join fellow guests for the captains first dinner, drinks and evening entertainment.

Day 2: Maio Island, Bijagos

Today your cruise itinerary takes you truly off the beaten track to the Bissau-Guinean archipelago of Bissagos, some 20 kilometres off the west coast of Africa. The archipelago is famous for its abundant biodiversity. The richness of its marine animal and plant life afforded it the status of Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Of the 88 islets and islands in the archipelago, only 23 are inhabited. At Maio, still called Chediã, you can meet the Bissagos people and get to know their ancestral ways and customs. In this region, cut off from the rest of the world and secluded from Western influences, you'll discover how locals really live.

Day 3: Caravela, Escaramoussa Beach, Bijagos

Today you will continue exploring the Bissagos archipelago In the heart of luxuriant nature, you'll enjoy Caravela Island's wild charm and its Bijago inhabitants, fascinating men and women who have adapted to and melted in with their natural environment.

Day 4: Ampincha, Bijagos

Arrive at the island of Carache and visit a local village steeped in traditions and sacred rituals. For the Bidyogo, each natural element has a soul and their greatest treasure is the environment around them. They use the majestic kapok trees to carve out their canoes, their clothing is made from palm fibre and their diet consists mainly of shells found in the mangrove and along the foreshore.

Days 5-6: Orango Island, Bijagos

Spend two days exploring and learning about the largest and probably the most mysterious island in the archipelago, Orango. The national park and marine protected areas lie in the heart of the Biosphere Reserve. You can enjoy several Zodiac outings discovering this preserved environment, home to the Bijogo people.

Day 7: Binte, Bijagos

Arrive at the attractive village of Binte consisting of a small cluster of houses.

Day 8: Laterite Beach, Bijagos

Enjoy this beautiful quiet beach lapped with turquoise waters, golden sand and palm trees.

Day 9: Dakar

Your voyage ends in Dakar, Senegarl where you will disembark the ship.
