La Belle Epoque

Burgundy Cruise from Tanlay to Venarey le Laumes (7 Days)

The 12-passenger La Belle Époque is a state-of the-art luxury hotel barge which benfited from a major refurbishment in 2011. She has been designed with both elegance and passenger comfort in mind and offers a host of luxurious facilities, including a sun deck, spa-pool and wood panelled saloon and dining room. She provides the opulence of a top class hotel with ever-changing Burgundy scenery.





Services begin with a transfer from the Hotel Westminster in Paris to the hotel barge.

Day 1: Tanlay

Please note that this is a sample itinerary and may be subject to change. On alternate weeks the cruise will operate in reverse direction. Take your transfer from Paris and board the barge which will be moored in Tanlay. Here you are welcomed by the crew who will be waiting with champagne and canapes. Take some time to settle in to your cabin and then enjoy your first dinner on board and an introduction to Burgundy's excellent cuisine.

Day 2: Tanlay - Lezinne

Wake to the aromas of ground coffee and French pastries and enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board. There is a morning cruise to Lezinne with the opportunity to cycle or walk into the picturesque 16th century village, Saint Vinemer. After lunch tour the vineyards and town of Chablis, dating back to Roman times and enjoy a private wine tasting at a renowned winemaker such as the family-run Domaine Régnard, which makes the most of the region’s wonderful local terroir to produce high quality wine. Dinner will be served back on board the barge.

Day 3: Lezinne - Ancy le Franc

After breakfast enjoy a leisurely cruise to ancy le Franc, with plenty of opportunies to walk or cycle ahead of the barge. Lunch will be taken in a local auberge and then you will visit the vineyards and town of Chablis. Enjoy a private wine tasting at the Domaine Billaud Simon, renowned for its Premier and Grand Cru wines.

Day 4: Ancy le Franc - Ravieres

This morning brings you to medieval Noyers sur Serein where you can admire the local produce in the wonderful market or take a stroll around the ramparts of one of the most beautiful villages in France. Return to the vessel and ascend through the locks towards Chateau d'Ancy le Franc. After lunch you will have an opportunity to visit the 16th century palace and gardens.

Day 5: Ravieres - Montbard

Take a leisurely cruise to Montbard and enjoy the many walking or cycling opportunities en route. After lunch there will be a guided visit to the exquisite UNESCO World Heritage Site of Abbaye de Fantenay, founded in 1118 by St Bernard.

Day 6: Montbard - Venerey les Laumes

Take a morning cruise through woodlands and rolling fields with some great biking and walking opportunities as you pass the tiny canalside villages of Nogent, Courcelles and Les Granges. In the afternoon there will be time to take a stroll around the hilltop village of Flavigny sur Ozerain, where the film 'Chocolat' was made or tour the town of Semur-en-Auxois. On the way from the summit of Mount Auxois, you will also look at Alesia, where the last battle between the Gauls and Romans took place in 52 B.C. and visit the impressive museum before returning to the barge for the Captain's Farewell Dinner.

Day 7: Venarey les Laumes

After a final breakfast on board, bid farewell to La Belle Epoque and take a transfer back to Paris.


Disembark for your transfer back to the Westminster Hotel in Paris.
