La Belle de L'Adriatique

Naples, the Amalfi Coast, Aeolian Islands, Sicily and Calabria

Constructed in 2007, La Belle de l’Adriatique is a well-equipped 198-passenger coastal cruiser offering journeys along the Adriatic coast in summer and on Egypt’s Red Sea during the winter months. The Belle de l'Adriatique's relatively small size means that she can cruise closer to the coastline and moor up at smaller harbours than many other ships. Her 100 outside cabins are spread across four decks and the ship’s generous public areas include a large sundeck with a jacuzzi and loungers, a piano bar and a large forward lounge complete with dancefloor.

Embark

Embark the ship in Naples.

Day 1: Naples

Board the ship and take some time to settle into your cabin before a presentation from the crew. A welcome cocktail will be served in the ship's lounge, followed by dinner in the restaurant.

Day 2: Naples

This morning you will have a choice of optional excursions including visiting the incredible site of Pompeii. A reminder of the violent forces that lie deep inside Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii is Europe’s most compelling archaeological site and one of Italy’s most visited tourist attractions. Alternatively join an optional visit to Herculaneum. Herculaneum's fate runs parallel to Pompeii. Destroyed by an earthquake in 62 AD, the subsequent eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD saw it submerged in a sea of mud that essentially fossilized the city. Discover the wealth of archaeological finds, from ancient advertisements and stylish mosaics, to carbonized furniture and inhabitants. In the afternoon you may join an optional visit to the Solfatara, a shallow volcanic crater near Pozzuoli in the Campi Flegrei volcanic area. This dormant volcano still emits jets of steam with sulfurous fumes. It was formed around 4000 years ago and last erupted in 1198 AD. Before returning to the ship, enjoy a panoramic tour of unforgettable Naples, where you'll be able to see Mergellina, Castel dell'Ovo, Via Caracciolo, Piazza della Vittoria and the Piazza Municipio.

Day 3: Aeolian Islands - Milazzo

This morning will be spent cruising around the Aeolian Islands. Rising out of the cobalt-blue seas off Sicily's northeastern coast, the UNESCO-protected Aeolian Islands are a little piece of paradise. The chain of islands is named after the demigod of the winds, Aeolus. The ship arrives in Milazzo in the early afternoon where you may join an optional excursion to Tindari. Discover the Sanctuary of the Black Madonna built on a promontory overhanging the entire Gulf of Patti and its immense Tonnarai d’Oliveri lagune, followed by a visit to the archaeological site with the Greek theatre, thermal baths and mosaics. Return to the ship. Tonight’s dinner will be followed by an evening of dancing on board.

Day 4: Messine, Sicily

Today you may enjoy an optional excursion to Mount Etna and Taormina (lunch included). Spend an unforgettable day combining a visit to these two exceptional sites, the largest active volcano in Europe and on to Taormina, idyllically perched on a rock high above the sea. Taormina incarnates the legendary beauty of Sicily. Its Greek-Roman theatre is not to be missed. Tonight’s evening will have a Sicilian theme.

Day 5: Vibo Marina, Calabria

Today you can join an optional excursion to Calabria located at the extreme south of Italy - lapped by the splendid crystal-clear Ionian and Tyrrhenian Seas. Its warm climate, beautiful colours, rocky coastline, local cuisine and the vestiges of its ancient origins make Calabria a unique place to be enjoyed in both winter and summer. Commence your visit with Tropea, a seaside resort with impressive scenery. It has that lovely, timeless, faded feel characteristic of sleepy southern Italian seaside towns. Enjoy a tasting of some local delicacies. Tonight’s dinner will be followed by an evening of entertainment provided by the crew. Tonight the ship will cruise towards Salerno.

Day 6: Salerno, The Amalfi Coast

Spend the morning cruising along the Amalfi Coast. Designated by UNESCO as an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, the Amalfi Coast combines great beauty and gripping drama: coastal mountains plunge into the sea among the deep crags, picturesque towns and lush forests. Join an optional excursion to visit the villages along the Amalfi Coast. Discover Sorrento, and its extraordinary gardens and landscapes. Tonight, enjoy a folk show.

Day 7: Capri - Anacapri - Naples

Today you may join an optional full-day excursion to Capri and Anacapri (lunch included). Take an airboat or ferry boat to splendid Capri. On arrival, head to the village of Anacapri and visit the villa San Michele, built at the turn of the last century by Swedish physician and author Axel Munthe. Anacapri is located in the highest part of the island, and from the villas gardens you’ll have a fantastic view of the city of Capri, the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. In the afternoon, enjoy some free time on your own or visit the Gardens of Augustus, offering splendid views of the sea and fantastic photographic vistas. Return to Naples by airboat or ferry boat. Tonight is the festive gala evening. Remain in port overnight.

Day 8: Naples

After your final breakfast before disembarking the ship in Naples.
