Southern Burgundy Cruise

Join the newest addition to the Go Barging fleet, the Finesse as she cruises the scenic River Saône and Canal du Centre in Southern Burgundy. The luxurious double-decker hotel barge will set sail in May 2016 offering guests four spacious twin or double suites each with air-conditioning and beautifully appointed shower-rooms. The spacious lounge and dining room has panoramic windows offering wonderful views of the passing scenery and a demonstration galley allows guests to watch their chef preparing delicious gourmet meals. The spacious sundeck with comfortable seating and spa pool allows for relaxation and space to socialize with fellow passengers as the Finesse meanders through the countryside and vineyards of Southern Burgundy. ***For Charters Only - Now available - Paris pick-up & drop-off location. Transfers will be provided by private air-conditioned vehicle from your clients’ choice of location in Paris. The other pick-up and drop off locations for charter parties are still available if preferred - Dijon, Lyon, or Le Creusot TGV station.





From 2017 guests will picked up from either Gare de Dijon-Ville or Grand Hotel La Cloche Dijon MGallery by Sofitel in Dijon and transferred to barge in St-Julien-sur-Dheune.

Day 1: St-Julien-sur-Dheune

You will be met a the designated meeting point in Lyon and transferred by minibus to the Finesse in St-Julien-sur-Dheune for a Champagne Welcome and the opportunity to meet the crew. After settling into your cabin perhaps enjoy a walk into town before returning to the barge for your first dinner on board.

Day 2: St-Julien-sur-Dheune

This morning your barge will commence cruising through Southern Burgundy along the Canal du Centre passing glorious countryside to moor at the little village of St-Leger-sur-Dheune. Descend a series of locks with plenty of opportunities to disembark and explore the villages along the way. After lunch visit the 14th century Château de Germolles, the best preserved of the residences of the Dukes of Burgundy, with its ducal chapel, medieval wall paintings and romantic gardens. Dinner on board.

Day 3: St-Léger-sur-Dheune - Remigny

After breakfast the barge heads to Autun, a town of ancient origins with Roman gates and a 17,000 seat amphitheatre. After lunch on board Finesse, the cruise continues along the Canal du Centre through undulating countryside, with plenty of opportunities to walk or cycle on the towpath along the way and passing along the route the famous wine-producing village of Santenay.

Day 4: Remigny - Rully

After breakfast, join a drive through the Cote de Beaune vineyards to the town of Beaune itself, capital of Burgundy wine country where we visit the fascinating 15th century Hotel-Dieu Hospice and explore the quaint shops of the town before enjoying a gastronomic lunch at Michelin-starred restaurant Le Montrachet. After lunch, return to the barge for an afternoon cruise past the charming little town of Chagny, to our mooring near village of Rully. Dinner on board.

Day 5: Rully - Fragnes

This morning join continue cruising along the Canal du Centre at a leisurely pace to moor at the villages of Fragnes. There are perfect opportunities to walk or cycle along the towpath en route. In the afternoon tour a winery and enjoy a private tasting to the delightful 17th century Chateau de Chamirey in Mercurey, owned by the Devillard family for five generations. Dinner on board.

Day 6: Fragnes to St Jean de Losne

This morning the barge continues along the peaceful River Saone, passing the delightful little ports such as Verdun-sur-le-Doubs and Seurre en route, to arrive at St-Jean-de-Losne. After lunch, join a walking tour of old Dijon, gastronomic capital of France with its mustard shops and home to the impressive Notre Dame de Djion. You might also wish to enjoy some excellent shopping time. Farewell Dinner on board.

Day 7: St-Jean-de-Losne

After your final breakfast on board disembark in St-Jean-de-Losne and transfer by minibus to the designated meeting point in Lyon. From 2017 guests will be transferred to designated meeting point in Dijon.


Disembark the barge in St-Jean-de-Losne and to the designated drop off point in Dijon.
