Fernao de Magalhaes

Porto, the Douro Valley 6 Day Cruise

Explore the attractions and stunning river vistas of the Douro Valley in Portugal aboard the Fernao de Magalhaes, a three deck ship constructed in 2003. The ship is able to accommodate up to 142 guests in 71 comfortable double cabins, on a variety of itineraries which represent excellent value for money. Cruise in a unique setting, amid unspoilt nature and breathtaking landscapes. On board, swim in the pool or soak up the sun on the spacious sundeck, complete with shaded area. This cruise ship also features a lounge bar with a dance floor and restaurant serving French inspired cuisine.





Embark in Porto at 17:00hrs.

Day 1: Porto

Check in from 17:00 hours and settle into your cabin at leisure. There will be a presentation from the crew. A welcome cocktail will be served in the lounge, followed by dinner on board the ship. In the evening you may wish to join the optional coach excursion to explore Porto by night.

Day 2: Porto - Regua

After breakfast, take an optional guided tour of Porto, one of the oldest cities in Europe. The historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with an enticing maze of winding narrow streets, arcaded houses and beautiful churches. Porto is renowned for its wine, produced from the vineyards that stretch as far as the eye can see along the banks of the Duoro. You will have the opportunity to visit a famous cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia and of course enjoy a tasting session. Return to the ship for lunch as the cruise continues onto Regua, passing the locks of Crestuma and Carrapelato. Arrive at around 7.30pm and enjoy a dinner and crew show.

Day 3: Regua – Pinhao - Vega de Teron

Enjoy an optional morning excursion to Vila Real where you can discover a number of beautiful churches and take a very pleasant walk around the gardens of Solar de Mateus. Join the ship again in Pinhao for lunch on board the ship. The cruise continues into the heart of the Porto, passing magnificent hillsides covered in trellised vines planted in terraces up to 700m, plunging majestically down towards the river. The boat traverses through locks in Valeira and Pocinho to reach the final destination of the day, Vega de Teron. Dinner on board followed by a Spanish evening.

Day 4: Porto Antigo - Porto

After a buffet breakfast, join a guided tour of Porto one of the oldest cities in Europe, whose historic center was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The evening is free to do as you please.

Day 5: Porto - Guimarães - Porto

Enjoy time at leisure this morning to discover Porto at your own pace. This afternoon, join an excursion to Guimarães. Tonight's your gala evening and dinner followed by traditional folk entertainment.

Day 6: Porto

After breakfast you will disembark the ship in Porto.


Disembark in Porto at 09:00hrs.
