Canal du Midi Cruise from Trebes to Sallèles d’Aude (7 Days)

Originally built to sail the diverse European canals and rivers, the Enchanté offers an intimate cruise in these waterways, combined with luxury and comfort. A recent refurbishment has allowed Enchanté to raise the cruising standard with her 4 stylish en-suite twin or double suites accommodating up to 8 passengers, each with superbly appointed bathrooms, incorporating a shower and lavish bath products. The barge is tastefully furnished in exotic hardwoods, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. The vessel's facilities include internet connection on board and a guest computer, CD/iPod sound system and air conditioning throughout.

A transfer from Narbonne to the barge is included. Details of pick up points and times to be advised upon reservation.

Day 1: Trèbes

Please note that this is a sample itinerary and may be subject to change and that the cruise will run in the opposite direction on alternate weeks. After being met at the designated meeting point, you will be transferred to the barge moored in Trèbes. Enjoy a champagne welcome followed by your first dinner on board tonight.

Day 2: Trèbes - Marseillette

Join a fascinating morning tour of Carcassonne. Dating back to the Gallo-Roman era, this is the most complete medieval fortified city in existence today. With its 52 watchtowers, portcullis and an extraordinary repertoire of defenses, it managed to resist the many armies that attempted to storm this glorious Camelot setting. Dinner will be served on board.

Day 3: Marseillette - Puichéric

This morning enjoy a relaxing walk or bike ride along the canal as the Enchante cruises on navigating the triple lock system. In the afternoon you will enjoy a wine tasting at Chateau Saint Jaques d'Albas in the Minervois, before cruising to a picturesque mooring under the trees. Dinner on board.

Day 4: Puicheric - Homps

This morning you will travel by minibus to a stunning Benedictine Abbey dating back to the 8th Century. Nestled in the village of Lagrasse, awarded the title of “Plus beaux villages de France” (most beautiful villages of France), the Abbey is now home to many artisans who have set up workshops there. One of the highlights today is the chance to sample some local cuisine with lunch ashore in a spectacular setting overlooking the Corbières. Dinner is served aboard.

Day 5: Homps - Roubia

Take a morning excursion to Narbonne, a Roman Mediterranean capital where the Visigoth monarchs once lived. Enjoy a visit to the Archbishop's Palace and the indoor market which sits at the heart of this busy canalside town. Enjoy some free time here to browse the local shops or simply take in the relaxed atmosphere.

Day 6: Roubia - Sallèles d’Aude

Enjoy an excursion to" L’Oulibo”, a local co-operative olive oil press where you will sample the famous Lucques olives. We continue on to Minerve, the ancient capital of the Minervois, which boasts a 12th century Cathar fort surrounded by deep limestone gorges. Tonight enjoy the Captain's Farewell Dinner on board.

Day 7: Sallèles d’Aude

After enjoying your final breakfast on board, bid farewell to the Enchanté and take a transfer back to the station for your onward journey.
