Embark the ship in Dakar, Senegal.

Day 1: Dakar

Board L'Austral in Dakar, the vibrant capital of Senegal. You will have time to explore your cabin and new surroundings. Later you will join fellow guests for the captains first dinner, drinks and evening entertainment.

Day 2: At Sea

Spend the day at sea as the ship sails towards Praia, Cape Verde.

Day 3: Praia, Cape Verde

Spend the day exploring the capital of Cape Verde, Praia located on the southern tip of Santiago Island. You may join a number of optional excursions including a walking tour of the historical centre of Praia visiting the Ethnological museum. Embark on a scenic drive to the UNESCO World Heritage of “Cidade Velha,the original capital of the islands and the hub of the slave trade.

Day 3: Mindelo

Set on the shores of the Porto Grande bay on the north-west coast of São Vicente, Mindelo is considered to be Cape Verde's cultural capital. Here in singer Cesaria Evora's homeland, you can listen to real morna in the bars of the old town, where you can also sip the local grog, a Cape Verdian sugarcane spirit. A few streets from the elegant floating resort of Pont d'água you'll see the pastel-coloured houses and colonial buildings of the historical district. Other landmarks are the facades of the old Governor's Palace and the busy municipal market.

Days 5-6: At Sea

Spend the next two days at sea as the ship sails towards the Canary Islands.

Day 7: Las Palmas, Gran Canaria

In the morning the ship arrives Las Palmas located on the northeast coast of Gran Canaria. Here you may find an attractive historical district where the streets are lined with palms, especially on the plaza de Santa Ana. Join an optional city tour and discover the oldest quarter, Vegueta declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1990. Alternatively an optional Island Tour will take you to some of the most charming towns and village on the island including Teror with its whitewashed houses, ornately carved balconies and cobbled streets. Visit the most famous church on the island, Basilica Nuestra Señora del Pino and the Cathedral of Arucas.

Day 8: Arrecife, Lanzarote

Your next port of call is Arrecife, Lanzarote. Here you will find a pleasant beach and lagoon full of local fishing boats. You have the option to join a number of interesting excursions including visiting Mirador del Rio, Lanzarote's most famous viewpoint. Standing 500 meters above sea level, you can see the entire northern coastline, the straits of El Rio and Las Salinas del Rio, the island's oldest salt plains which have been used since Roman times. You will also visit Los Jameos del Agua, a large open-air cavern is part of a long volcanic tunnel that was formed 3,000 years ago by molten lava.

Day 8: Funchal, Madeira

Arrive in Funchal, Madeira. Explore the old town whose walkways are lined with mulit-coloured mosaics that will lead you to the Mercado do Lavradores market, the Frederico de Freitas museum, and the golden panelling of the Cathedral de la Sé. Along the waterfront, the palm tree-shaded promenade leads you to the teleféricos de Monte, Madeira's cable cars. Its panoramic cabins transport you over the city to top of Monte, where you can see the picturesque botanical garden.

Day 10: At Sea

Spend the day at sea as the ship sails towards its final destination, Lisbon.

Day 11: Lisbon

Your voyage ends in Lisbon, Portugal where you will disembark the ship.
