Ancestral Japan 10 Day Cruise

The state-of-the-art mega-yacht, L’Austral launched in May 2011, bringing a unique blend of luxury, intimacy and well-being to small ship cruising. With just 132 cabins, L’Austral’s sleek design and small size means she can offer exclusive itineraries featuring ports of call that are inaccessible to larger ships. The yacht’s distinctive shape features smooth contours and large, arched windows, opening up to the sea and letting in the light. Precious materials in soothing neutral tones are brought to life with splashes of colour to create a discreet elegance reminiscent of a private yacht.

Embark the ship in Osaka.

Day 1: Osaka

Join L'Austral in Osaka in the early evening. There will be time to settle in to your stateroom before your first gourmet dinner on board tonight.

Day 2: Hiroshima

Arrive in Hiroshima, a bustling affluent city most famous for its devastating atomic bomb attack in 1945. From here you can join two optional excursions including a visit to the lovely island of Miyajima. The picturesque island, considered one of Japan's most scenic destinations is the location of the Itsukushima Shrine. Visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and its museum. Following the bomb attack, only a few concrete buildings remained standing. Though unusable, one of these ruins is now a symbol of the city and the Memorial Park: the Hiroshima Prefecture Industrial Promotion Hall, now known as the Atomic Bomb Dome, located near the epicenter of the blast. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1996, the Dome remains a stark and powerful symbol of the destructive force created by humankind.
