Embark in Cologne in time for a 17.00hrs departure.

Day 1: Cologne

Arrive into Cologne and board your Arosa river cruiser during the afternoon. The ship is scheduled to set sail from Cologne at 5pm and you can enjoy your first dinner on board as the ship heads south along the Rhine.

Day 2: Mainz

Your first port of call is Mainz, one of Germany's most historic cities. Today's optional walking tour of the city will introduce you to some of the highlights such as St Stephen's Church, with its windows by Chagall, St Martin's Cathedral and the university, originally built as a Jesuit college between 1615 and 1618.

Day 3: Strasbourg (Kehl)

The ship will dock in Strasbourg at lunchtime and you have the afternoon free to explore the unique capital of Alsace. Today's optional tour will introduce you to the city which so wonderfully combines the cultures of France and Germany. Strasbourg's Cathedral is one of the most beautiful buildings in eastern France, whilst the Old Town – known as 'Petit France', is a true gem.

Day 4: Kehl

The ship will remain in Kehl until early afternoon. Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace and boasts many research-, educational- and cultural institutions; it is also the seat of the European Council of Ministers.

Day 5: Basel

Basel is known as the cultural capital of Switzerland and today you can stroll downtown to discover a variety of museums and galleries. Alternatively join an optional city walking tour which includes a walk through the oldest part of the city. You may also wish to take advantage of an optional trip to Lake Lucerne, one of the prettiest Swiss lakeside towns.

Day 6: Breisach

This morning's port of call is the small wine-producing town of Breisach. On a rocky hill above the town there is the Stephan Cathedral, started in 1200. From here you may join an optional excursion to Freiburg located at the foot of the Black Forest's vineyards and an attractive medieval university town with gabled houses and cobbled streets. Re-board the ship at lunchtime to continue your journey to Koblenz.

Day 7: Loreley - Koblenz

The ship makes her way through the Middle Rhine Valley. Learn about the legends that surround the Loreley Rock, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and enjoy the views of numerous castle ruins, dotted high on the hillsides above the river. The ship arrives in Koblenz late afternoon. Marvel at Koblenz’s palaces, stately homes, grand townhouses, narrow lanes and romantic corners.
