Angkor Pandaw

Halong Bay and Red River 11 Day Cruise (Downstream)

Built in 2013 the Angkor Pandaw is the sister ship to the Kathaw Pandaw and is full of character and comfort. The ship offers journeys around the spectacular Halong Bay and along the Red River in Vietnam. On board there are 16 spacious teak cabins with en suite private facilities located on the Main and Upper Decks boasting colonial style décor. The ship has an enclosed air-conditioned panorama dining room, spacious open-air lounge and lounge bar, library and fair-trade shop.





Transfer from Hanoi to Hoa Binh, embark your ship at around 15.00 hrs.

Day 1: Hanoi - Hoa Binh

Transfer from Hanoi to Hoa Binh where you will embark the ship at approximately 3pm. Settle into your cabin as the ship sets sail downstream on the Da River.

Day 2: Hoa Binh

Visit the local museum and a village where locals still wear traditional dress. You will then take a boat ride on the reservoir of Hoa Binh power station. In the evening you can enjoy a traditional performance by local hill tribe people.

Day 3: Da River

Today you will enjoy sailing downstream admiring the unspoilt natural beauty of the Da River. Pass the Ba Vi National Park with its rich and diverse tropical and sub-tropical flora and fauna before arriving at Trung Ha. On board your guides and chefs will entertain you with cooking demonstrations and a talk on Northern Vietnam.

Day 4: Viet Tri

After breakfast you will travel by coach through the beautiful scenic countryside to the UNESCO village of Duong Lam. You will then continue cruising downstream to Viet Tri. Soak up the sights and sounds of the bustling river with all kinds of craft and activities.

Day 5: Lo - Red Rivers

In the morning the ship will cruise to the Tien Du ferry station where you will visit the village of Gia Thanh famous for the making of conical hats. Later continue onto the Hung Lo Temple for 'Hat Xoan' and enjoy a performance of local dance from the villagers. In the afternoon visit a carpenter village. Return to the ship and continue cruising the scenic Lo River.

Day 6: Lower Red River

Today you will go ashore and visit a timeless Arcadian Vietnam with emerald green rice paddies punctuated by lime stone rock formations. Here you may visit the Thay and Tay Phuong Pagodas, hardly known yet with exquisite temples dating from 8th and 11th century and home to some fine Buddhist statuary carved from jackfruit trees. In the afternoon visit Bat Trang ceramic village. Sail on the Lower Red River to Hanoi arriving in the evening.

Day 7: Hanoi

Today the ship arrives in Hanoi where you will visit some of the highlights of this fascinating city. Important sights include the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Hanoi Hilton, the notorious Vietnam war prison. In the afternoon enjoy a walking tour of Hanoi visiting a coffee shop where you will learn about Vietnam’s famous coffee making industry. Before returning to your ship you will enjoy a traditional unicorn and lion dance at the jetty.

Day 8: Luoc - Thai Binh Rivers

Spend the morning cruising along the river admiring the passing scenery. In the afternoon enjoy a local boat ride to Stork 's Island with its well-maintained bird sanctuary and take a walking tour of Ninh Giang commune visiting the local market. Return the ship for dinner.

Day 9: Kinh Thay - Bach Dang Rivers

In the morning the ship will sail on the Thai Binh River and visit the Thanh Ha Commune where you can enjoy a walking tour. You can also enjoy a water puppet show. Return to the ship for lunch as the cruises through the amazing scenery to Halong Bay, arriving at around 4pm for a sunset cruise. In the evening enjoy a barbeque on a secluded bay in Halong Bay.

Day 10: Halong Bay

Today enjoy a morning sailing in Halong Bay and beyond, with its 2,000 dramatic limestone islands and extraordinary rock formations dating back 20 million years. Visit by local boat a floating home, stop at a beach and enjoy kayaking or taking a rowing basket boat to bright and dark limestone caves.

Day 11: Halong Bay

Morning sailing to Tuan Chau jetty where you will disembark the ship. Transfer to Hanoi airport or Pan Pacific Hotel Hanoi with stop for lunch at a local restaurant.


Disembark the ship in Halong Bay and transfer to Hanoi Airport or the Pan Pacific Hotel, Hanoi.
