Five Day Cruise on the Ecuadorian Amazon (departs Wednesdays)

The Anakonda is the one of two luxury ships cruising in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest, offering guests the chance to experience the Amazon in a most unique way. Visit remote and pristine areas and interact with the region’s 15 local communities whilst enjoying the comfort and services of a 5-star boutique hotel. The ship's 18 cabins, each measuring over 215 square feet, feature sitting areas, large and comfortable beds, and wall-to-wall panoramic windows offering spectacular views. The observation deck, with its outdoor jacuzzi and al fresco lounge is the ideal place to enjoy a cocktail, to relax with a good book or simply enjoy the sights of the Ecuadorian Amazon. You also have the option to enjoy one or two nights camping under the stars in the Amazonian rainforest on an optional Glamping Excursion.

Arrive into Coca and transfer to the Anakonda by motorised canoe.

Day 1: Quito - Coca - Napo River

Your adventure begins in Quito where you will catch a short flight (30 mins) to the Amazon city of Coca. Transfer to the Anakonda by motorised canoe (approx 1.5 hours), all the while observing the forest-clad riverbanks of the silty-brown headwaters of the Amazon. You will be welcomed on board by the crew and there will be time to settle into your suite and enjoy lunch as the ship sets sail eastwards along the Amazon. You will be joined by expert local naturalist guides who will provide us with a brief and informative introduction to the Ecuadorian Amazon. After dinner head join a nighttime forest walk to observe the forest's nocturnal activity and experience the thrill of rainforest life.

Day 2: The heart of the Yasuni National Park

Early this morning visit the Yasuni National Park. This is a pristine and relatively undisturbed region of the Ecuadorian Amazon and also home of the legendary Pink River Dolphin! A haven of exotic plants, unique wildlife and colourful birds, you will be able to observe river turtles and the enigmatic Amazonian Anaconda. Keep your eyes peeled for a number of species of monkey and the most-primitive Hoatzin, a bizarre bird locally known as the Stinky Turkey. In the afternoon go canoeing in a blackwater lake, home to giant otters and the magnificent, albeit elusive manatee. You will also enjoy a pleasant hike in the Riparian/Gallery Forest, where we have the chance to spot a flock of birds and marvel at the intricate organization of a colony of leaf-cutter ants.

Day 3: Quechua family

Start the day off by visiting an authentic Quechua family located on the banks of the Napo River, where you will receive cultural immersion and the opportunity to learn directly from members of the local community. Return the Anakonda where you may join a number of onboard activities including a cooking class with the expert chef, who will share recipes and techniques using fresh and organic ingredients to prepare exquisite traditional Ecuadorian food. You may also try traditional handicrafts or perhaps a spa treatment in the Rainforest Spa.

Day 4: Forest Adventure and Observation Canopy

In the morning explore the nearby forest for a walk to discover a myriad of different animals and plant species that can only be found in the Amazon basin. In the afternoon, you will visit a canopy tower, built against a giant Kapok tree. The observation tower stands high above the lush treetops and providing a view of the sheer vastness of the Amazon Basin. In the evening, you may bravely venture into the river on a canoe to search for black caimans with the help of your flashlights.

Day 5: Coca

Your Amazon journey ends here where you will disembark the Anakonda. Transfer back to Coca by motorized canoe. The journey will take approximately 1.5 hours.
