Amadeus Provence

Wine Cruise on the Rhone (8 Days)

The Amadeus Provence is the latest addition to the Amadeus fleet travelling exclusively along the Rhône and the Saône. The spacious and luxurious interior planning and design provides comfortable room for 140 passengers and offers all the luxuries of a floating 5-star hotel. Embark the ship in Lyon.

Day 1: Lyon

Arrive in Lyon and check in from 4pm onwards. Settle in to your cabin and explore the range of amenities on board. Later enjoy a Welcome Cocktail, followed by a specially-prepared Welcome Dinner.

Day 2: Lyon

Spend a full day in this UNESCO World Heritage city known for its cuisine as well as historical and architectural landmarks such as the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourviere and the Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon). You may join an optional City tour of Lyon in the morning. In the afternoon, visit to Les Halles de Lyon „Paul Bocuse“, Lyon's famed indoor food market on an optional tour. In the evening, enjoy an onboard wine lecture.

Day 3: Chalon-sur- Saône

In the morning you will visit a winery in the village of Chalon-sur- Saône, tasting Southern Burgundy wines. Half -timbered houses overlook the square and you can also discover numerous art galleries, specialty shops as well as a museum dedicated to photography. Later you may join an optional excursion to the medieval towns of Brancion and Cormatin.

Day 4: Mâcon - Montmerlesur- Saône - Trevoux

This morning the vessel is situated in the town of Mâcon, located in southern Burgundy. This wine-producing region produces some of the most expensive wines in the world. Enjoy a winery visit from Mâcon: where Beaujolais meets Burgundy, tasting the wines of the Maconnais. In the afternoon you may join an optional tour of Cluny Abbey (by bus from Montmerle-sur-Saône/ to Trevoux). Rejoin the ship in Trevoux. In the evening, there is a Wine Dinner on board featuring french wines.

Day 5: Vienne - Tournon

This morning discover the small city of Vienne in the Rhône-Alpes region. The city has preserved a rich built heritage from its long past with monuments dating back to ancient Roman times including an impressive amphitheatre. You will also find an attractive medieval centre with narrow cobbled streets and Romanesque churches. In the afternoon join a winery visit from Tournon to a Northern Rhône village.

Day 6: St. Etienne des Sorts - Châteauneuf -du-Pape - Avignon

In the morning excursion to the Pont du Gard and Uzès. Pont du Gard, a three-level aqueduct constructed over 2000 years ago by the Romans and is one of the architectural masterpieces of the ancient world. Rejoin the ship in Châteauneuf -du-Pape for lunch on board. In the late afternoon you will join a winery visit from Avignon: Southern Rhône village tasting.

Day 7: Avignon - Arles

Spend the morning in the Provencal city of Avignon, home to the Papal Palace, once the seat of Western Christianity in the 14th century. The Papal Palace, was home to six papal conclaves but became obsolete when the papacy decided to return to Rome. Join an optional walking tour or explore at leisure. In the afternoon arrive in Arles, the town said to have captured the imagination of the brilliant Impressionist painter, Van Gogh. Walking through the town, many of the settings may seem familiar as some of Van Gogh’s best known pieces reflect the beauty of the town. You may explore at leisure or join an optional walking tour. In the evening enjoy the Captain's Gala Dinner with wine pairing.

Day 8: Arles

Your cruise ends in the city of Arles where you will disembark after breakfast.
