Amadeus Elegant

Beautiful Blue Danube and Danube Delta 16 Day Cruise

The Amadeus Elegant, launched in 2010, accommodates up to 150 passengers in a total of 76 cabins and suites. Embark in Passau from 16.00hrs.

Day 1: Passau

Board your luxurious Amadeus cruise ship in Passau from 4pm onwards. There will be time to settle in to your stateroom or suite before a Welcome Cocktail and your Welcome Dinner on board.

Day 2: Vienna

Arrive in Vienna this afternoon, where you may wish to take part in an optional city tour, showcasing all the main attractions such as the State Opera, the Hofburg Palace and St Stephen's Cathedral. Alternatively spend the afternoon exploring independently. The ship departs from Vienna in the early evening.

Day 3: Esztergom - Budapest

Arrive in Esztergom early this morning and disembark for an optional excursion to Esztergom and Szentendre in Hungary's scenic Danube Bend region. Esztergom was the country's capital from the 10th to mid-13th century and boasts a wealth of beautiful architecture. Continue to the small artists' settlement of Szentendre before rejoining the ship in Budapest. An afternoon optional tour of the capital will introduce you to old 'Buda' and newer, cosmopolitan 'Pest', on either side of the Danube. See the Fisherman's Bastion, Matthias Church, St Stephen's Cathedral and enjoy the fine views from Buda Castle.

Day 4: Belgrade

Arrive at the capital of Serbia, Belgrade in the afternoon. Here you may join an optional city tour of one of the oldest cities in Europe and the only one built on the confluence of two rivers. The city has a reputation as a party capital heightened in the summer months when revellers spill out into the streets.

Day 5: Vidin

This afternoon the ship arrives at the port town of Vidin on the southern bank of the Danube in north-western Bulgaria. Here you may join an optional excursion to Vidin and Belogradchik in the afternoon. Vidin has two well-preserved medieval fortresses, Baba Vida and Belogradchik. The latter is an ancient fortress located on the north slopes of the Balkan Mountains.

Day 6: Oltenita - Fetesti

This afternoon arrive in Oltenita. Here you may join an optional city tour home where you can discover the country's cultural, industrial, and financial centre. Much of the city is modern in design but you will find 17th- and 18th-century Orthodox churches and fine art nouveau villas. Rejoin the ship in Fetesti.

Day 7: Danube Delta - St. Gheorge

Today you reach the Danube Delta, which covers an area of about 4,340 square kilometres. It is famous for the diversity of its wildlife, which includes 20 pairs of white-tailed eagles and 3,000 meadow vipers. Continue along St Gheorge’s Channel to the very first kilometre of the Danube, almost to the point where it meets the Black Sea, and take a walk to the beaches of the Black Sea Coast.

Day 8: Hirsova

The ship arrives in Hirsova in the afternoon where you may join an optional excursion to Constanta and the Black Sea coast, Romania's largest and most important port city. You will find an attractive port area and interesting museums as well as easy access to the coastal resorts.

Day 9: Rousse - Svishtov

Arrive in Rousse in the morning and enjoy an optional excursion to Veliko Tarnovo, one of Bulgaria's oldest towns boasting fortified walls and cobbled lanes. Rejoin the ship in Svishtov.

Day 10: Iron Gates

Spend today cruising through the Iron Gates towards Belgrade.

Day 11: Novi-Sad - Vukovar

Arrive Novi-Sad an attractive town with an imposing fortress, pleasant old town and with a number of museums and galleries. Enjoy an optional city tour and excursion to Sremski Karlovci, the city of wine culture and ornate churches. You may also join an optional evening excursion to Vukovar, a beautiful Baroque city situated on the banks of the Vuka and Danube rivers.

Day 12: Mohacs

Mohacs is today's port of call and the start point for an optional tour of the Puszta region. Puszta is a steppe biome located on the Great Hungarian Plain and during today's excursion you can enjoy a display of the horsemanship for which the area is famous.

Day 13: Budapest

Spend a full day in Budapest. A morning optional city tour will introduce you to old 'Buda' and newer, cosmopolitan 'Pest', on either side of the Danube. See the Fisherman's Bastion, Matthias Church, St Stephen's Cathedral and enjoy the fine views from Buda Castle. in the afternoon join an optional excursion to Gödöllö Castle. Tonight enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Danube, complete with a Hungarian folklore programme to entertain you.

Day 14: Bratislava

Arriving in Bratislava mid afternoon there is an optional city tour, which you may wish to join. In the evening enjoy the Captain's Gala Dinner.

Day 15: Durnstein

Sail to Durnstein today where there is an optional tour of the scenic Austrian Wachau region, incorporating a visit to the impressive Benedictine Abbey at Melk and a wine tasting session. In the afternoon, set sail from Melk towards the German Border.

Day 16: Passau

Disembark the ship in Passau after your final breakfast aboard.
