Amadeus Brilliant

Classical Danube Cruise from Passau to Budapest (8 Days)

The Amadeus Brilliant, launched in April 2011, is one of the newest additions to the growing Amadeus fleet. Measuring 110 metres in length and 11.4 metres in width this beautiful vessel complements the existing fleet perfectly. With a total of 4 decks, the ship features just 67 cabins and 9 additional suites, all with en suite shower facilities and most of which offer a French balcony. Other amenities include a spacious sun deck with sun loungers, international restaurant serving exquisite cuisine and an intimate lounge bar.





Embark in Passau at 16.00hrs.

Day 1: Passau

Board your luxurious Amadeus cruise ship in Passau this afternoon. There will be time to settle in to your stateroom or suite before a Welcome Cocktail and your Welcome Dinner on board. The ship departs in the early evening.

Day 2: Regensburg

This morning's port of call is Regensburg, one of Germany's best preserved medieval cities and this morning's optional city walk will introduce you to the city's architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Pretoria. In the afternoon you may wish to take an excursion to Weltenburg Monastery. Returning to the ship, there will be a rousing Bavarian Evening on board tonight.

Day 3: Passau - Linz

Returning to Passau you have the chance to explore the city on an informative optional walking tour. Alternatively you may choose to take an optional excursion to Salzburg and the mountains and lakes region of the Salzkammergut, returning to meet the ship in Linz in the late afternoon. In Linz there us the chance to join a walking tour of the city before dinner back on board.

Day 4: Melk - Vienna

The ship arrives in Melk early today and from here you can take an optional tour of the scenic Wachau region, incorporating a visit to the impressive Benedictine Abbey at Melk and a wine tasting session. Enjoy some leisure time in Weissenkirchen before rejoining the ship as she sets sail to Vienna.

Day 5: Vienna

Wake in Vienna this morning and choose from a variety of optional excursions. You may opt for a morning city tour, showcasing all the main attractions such as the State Opera, the Hofburg Palace and St Stephen's Cathedral. Later today you may wish to visit Schoenbrunn Castle or spend the afternoon exploring independently. This evening you have the chance to attend a classical concert by a Viennese orchestra - a truly memorable experience. Otherwise, spend your evening at leisure, exploring this grand city. The ship departs from Vienna in the early hours.

Day 6: Bratislava

Today your cruise continues towards the Slovakian capital, Bratislava. You may choose to join the optional sightseeing tour, which reveals the city's impressive history. This afternoon's optional excursion brings you to the Imperial Festival Palace, Castle Hof, a magnificent Baroque complex that was built in the early 18th Century and is immensely rich in culture and heritage. Return to the ship and prepare for the Captain's Gala Dinner, followed by a show performed by the crew.

Day 7: Esztergom - Budapest

This morning arrive in Esztergom, where may join an optional excursion to the small artists' settlement of Szentendre. Continue to the Hungarian capital, Budapest in the afternoon and join an optional sightseeing tour which leads you to historic Buda Castle, from where you have a splendid view of the twin cities of Buda and Pest, spread over both banks of the river. Your tour also features the 500-year-old Matthias Church, St. Stephen's Basilica, the Fishermens Bastion and the Royal Palace. This evening enjoy a scenic evening cruise along the Danube, 'Budapest by Night', with a Hungarian folklore group to entertain you.

Day 8: Budapest

Your Classical Danube Cruise comes to an end this morning as you disembark in Budapest after breakfast.
