MS Deutschland

Deutschland-in-London_British-eWaterwaysIf you are looking to explore the world in classic elegance and luxury, the Deutschland is the perfect ship for you. Known as the only five star cruise ship flying under the German flag, the Deutschland offers its passengers lavish comforts while travelling to the most wondrous locals, including Ibiza, Istanbul, and Buenos Aires. The Deutschland is also known as the star of the German television show "The Dream Boat," based off the U.S show "The Love Boat," and was used as a floating hotel for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Launched in 1998, the design of this German ship evokes an art deco style, making you feel as if you are on a floating grand hotel out of the 1920s. With 10 decks, 7 that are passenger accessible, this ship offers a variety of relaxing and luxurious amenities, including an imperial ballroom, elegant staterooms, a Roman spa, and golf facilities. A cruise of opulence and elegance leaves you feeling relaxed and pampered. The ship encourages its passengers to be well dressed, with most dress being jacket and tie in the evenings, sometimes even black tie.

Deutschland-dining-roomThe Deutschland can accommodate an intimate number of 580 passengers, letting you enjoy the destinations that she visits without the stress of a large crowd; the ship's smaller size also allows it to visit many ports that larger ships are unable to. While a large percentage of the passengers on the ship are German, the crew is multilingual and is extremely accommodating for its English-speaking passengers. What sets the Deutschland apart is its ability to provide its passengers with luxurious relaxation, whilst cruising in incredible locations in luxury.

The routes take the Deutschland throughout Germany, from Lisbon to many places along the Mediterranean, including Rome and Istanbul, around South America and Africa, and to the Olympic Games in London! The Deutschland is going to be featured at the Olympics as a floating hotel; its trip to London will be from Bremerhaven, Germany. There's also a cruise heading to Dubai from Mahe in the Seychelles islands. Overall, there are a multitude of places to cruise to based on interest and location, but some of the most exciting will be the South American trips this December.

deutschland-quartersOne of the only ways to really enjoy a trip is to be sure that your living quarters are comfortable and relaxing; in the Deutschland's case, the cabins are this and more. Each room is opened with a brass key, evoking the feeling of the glamour of the 1920s before you even enter your cabin. There are six types of cabins: Grande Suite (30 square meters), Suite (22.5 square meters), Luxury (19 square meters), Classical (15 square meters), Comfort (13.5 square meters), and Cabinet (12-15 square meters). Each room has large windows with Venetian blinds, double full length mirrors, oil paintings, burled wood effect, tile and brass bathrooms, and surplus capacity in the closets. All rooms are also equipped with air conditioning, double or twin beds, minibar, safe, hair dryer, and telephones.

Dining on board is an elegant experience, whether it's in the Berlin dining room, the Four Seasons restaurant, or at the Lido. The Lido has indoor and outdoor seating and is perfect for afternoon luncheons and tea. The Berlin is the consistent dining room for those on board, whereas the Four Seasons is for special reservations at an extra cost. Guests are encouraged to be well dressed for meals; this consists of usually coat and tie, but some nights are black tie. Even the afternoon teas do not allow attire such as shorts. There are also bars and lounges onboard for social gatherings, all decorated in the 1920's art deco theme of the ship.

deutschland-swimming-poolsThe facilities on the Deutschland are geared toward making passengers feel relaxed and entertained. Facilities include a spa with Roman bath, indoor and outdoor pool, sports facilities with gym and Finnish sauna, and a golf deck. There are also fun activities for children and a boutique. All of these facilities are geared to make sure that every guest feels at his or her best.

The Deutschland is committed to providing comfort for all in the most conscientious of manners. The ship specifically works hard to stay environmentally friendly, from using biodegradable cleaning materials, to guaranteeing the highest possible environmental performance, especially in sensitive areas like Antarctica.

Whether you want to head south to Africa or east to Dubai, the Deutschland will get you there with a style, class, and comfort that can not be compared to any other cruise ship.
