The Dahabiya Hadeel combines the traditionally crafted sailboat of days gone by, with all the modern comforts and luxuries expected in today's world. Dahabiyas were used in the days of the Egyptian Monarchy (1920's - 40's)when aristocrats and sophisticated travellers would hire the boats for weeks at a time so that they could sail from temple to temple in their own time. Today, the Hadeel will take you slowly up and down the Nile powered by the wind in her sails. On occasions when there is no wind, the Hadeel's own tow-boat will be used to help you along. There is a total of 8 cabins on board, all with private facilities. Due to licencing restrictions, alcohol can not be sold on board but you can bring your own and the crew will happily serve it to you without charging a corkage fee.
