Domincan Republic
Occupying half the island Christopher Columbus named Hispaniola, the Dominican Republic is a Caribbean jewel blessed with majestic beaches and a rich natural environment that combines rolling mountains, lush jungle and ocean coral reefs. It has a vibrant cultural life celebrated in music, food and sport, but most of all dancing. Salsa, Latin Jazz and the national dance, the Merengue, are everywhere with music played by groups on the streets and in clubs or blaring from loudspeakers. There are Merengue festivals in the coastal town of San Domingo and in Puerto Plata, and an annual Jazz festival celebrated in three coastal locations, Cabarete, Sosua and Puerto Plata in October that has attracted star names including Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin. Nekton Rorqual
The Nekton Rorqual is a revolutionary Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull Liveaboard that offers Nekton's guests an exceptionally smooth ride and luxury accommodations. The Nekton Rorqual offers the popular Bahamas itineraries departing from Fort Lauderdale during the late spring, summer, and early fall months. During the late fall, winter and early spring it offers our Mona Island and Southern Bahamas itineraries, and this year will also feature our Whales of the Silver Bank itinerary. The Nekton Rorqual was designed from the ground up specifically as a SCUBA diving Liveaboard for Nekton by SWACAT Technologies. The Nekton Rorqual's design includes one continuous strut on each side connecting the superstructure to the submerged pontoons that provide buoyancy. This provides slightly higher speed and range than its sister boat, the Nekton Pilot.
